Step 1. Pre-reading preparation
1. Ask Ss to look at the cartoon on page 97 and ask them the following questions:
1) What are they doing?
2) Why did his sister fail the cooking exam?
2. Ask Ss some questions about their daily life
1) Do you like cooking ? why?
2) What is your favourite food?
3) Do you like Chinese food/French food/ Japanese food/----?
3. Show Ss picture on page 98 and ask Ss to fill in the blanks . Ss can discuss their answers with their classmates.
Step 2. While-reading procedure
1. Tell Ss that they are going to read a passage about one man’s experience eating food in different countries and fill in the blanks.
